The Braxton Leather Sofa in Italian Berkshire Chestnut (90″ x 46″) – Perfection

Berkshire Chestnut is one of our more popular leather selections. This leather scratches easily (they blend easily too) but the accumulation of those scratches becomes part of the character as this leather burnishes and polishes, developing its patina over time. The first few scratches can be alarming, but it’s part of the process, and the end result is part of what people love about these oiled pullup leathers. Berkshire is also a full grain, which means it’s not corrected or mechanically altered and it will feature natural markings and scars, which are again part of the character. Berkshire is also Full Aniline, so all of the color is achieved by soaking and tumbling the hides in drums of translucent aniline dyes. These dyes do not paint or cover up natural color variation and markings inherent across natural leather hides, they merely lend color to the natural beauty of the hide.

Our Braxton Leather Storage Ottoman is a popular add on option for customers buying our Braxton Leather Sofas and Sectionals. Struts assist with opening the lid to reveal storage, and also slow the closing of the lid for a soft landing. Customers love to use these ottomans as coffee tables, simply placing a tray on the ottoman, and with the tray removed, the ottoman can be used to extend the sofa seating, or even independently off to the side as extra seating in a pinch.

This customer opted for the 46″ depth Braxton Leather Sofa, boasting approximately 29″ of seat depth, and with the ottoman in front of the sofa the chaise effect is hard to beat 🙂

Just delivered to Menominee , MI! This Julien Slope Arm Leather Sofa is impressive at 120 inches long and 42 inches in overall depth. Adding to the sense of scale is the single, long bench seat with 2 corresponding back cushions.

This Julien is dressed in Italian Brentwood Tan, a leather from the same tannery as our popular Brompton and Berkshire leathers. Brentwood stands out from the rest of the oiled and waxed pullups from this tannery in that it is the thickest cut in our selections (1.4-1.6mm thick vs. Brompton and Berkshire at 1.0-1.2mm). This doesn’t make it better, just different. The thicker cut will require more break-in and it won’t have the same “drape” that Brompton and Berkshire get with time (drape = that rumply worn-in look)

Italian Brentwood Leather is a Full Grain, Full Aniline, Oiled Pull-up leather. Full Grain means it has not been corrected (scars have not been sanded, buffed, filled and covered up) and the leather exhibits natural markings and characteristics of the hides. Full Aniline means it is dyed all the way through, and Oiled pull-up means the hides have been impregnated with oils. These oils act as this leather’s barrier against the world, resisting moisture and keeping the leather both supple and strong. This leather will scratch and mark and just get better as you beat it up, burnishing and developing a beautiful vintage patina over time!

The Oscar is essentially our Arizona, but features some subtle changes that resulted from customer requests that became popular customizations for our Arizona:

Clean, Non-tufted Seats (Seats are Tufted on the Arizona)
1″ high legs, with a taller frame box, creating that “to-the-floor” feeling. (Arizona features a taller 3″ Tapered Leg with slightly less tall frame box)
No Welting on Arms, Frame, Back Cushions, or Seat Cushions (Arizona has welting on all of these areas – a small rib of leather along the edges)

This Special Order Braxton shipped out to Illinois dressed in Italian Destroyed Leather (Ragtime Natural). This unique leather is crafted in Northern Italy from belting leather used by some of Europe’s finest fashion houses and has an authentic worn-in aesthetic with dramatic texture and color variation. These thick hides will continue to soften and mellow with time.

Besides selecting this amazing leather, our customer also opted to remove 20″ of length from the Left Arm Facing end of our Braxton Mini L Sectional with Chaise. This one was built in our 46″ overall depth option which provides a very generous seat depth for the ultimate in laid back comfort. Customization is one of our strengths, and we were happy to deliver!
